I am currently Head of Communications at Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier – Universidade Nova de Lisboa (ITQB NOVA).
In 2024 I complete 10 years of working full-time in science communication.
Currently, I have the responsibility of leading and inspiring a team committed to moving ITQB NOVA’s communication strategy forward: a position that grants the opportunity to advance my skills in leadership, team and project management, while continuing to improve my science communication skills.
Previously, I have worked as a science communication officer in diverse institutions, such as the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CIÊNCIAS), the Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (CE3C), and the Pavillion of Knowledge - Ciência Viva.
My academic path is quite varied. I am a Physicist by training, with a PhD in Evolutionary Game Theory and Network Science (2008-2012, University of Lisbon), after which I did a Master’s in Science Communication (2012-2015, New University of Lisbon). And a PostDoc in Evolutionary Game Theory and Network Science (2013-2014, University of Aveiro). Yes, at the same time.
I had the honor of serving as Vice-President of SciComPt – Portuguese Science and Technology Communication Network between November 2020 and July 2023: an association which aims to map and highlight the work of science communicators in Portugal and contribute to form the identity of the science communicator in our country, in order to make the community, the professional area and science itself prosper.
For me, communicating science is about sparking curiosity.I am fortunate to be able to share my passion for learning with others.
